What Can I Say is a book about a couple, Karen and Simon Fox, who help patients psychologically during their time of illness and also provided a guide for the individuals visiting them. What Can I Say emphasizes how the wife, Karen Fox, began this program due to her own health issues. The reading describes her different experiences and scenarios with the sick and or dying. Fox began her journey of healing after a receiving a devastating phone call from her doctor regarding her cancer diagnosis. Fox then decided to turn her issue into a blessing. Anger gives room for other emotions to sprout and expressed. These emotions allows more healing to take place within a person. For example anxiety was recognized in the pool of emotions behind anger. Anxiety is a feeling of unease, worry, or concern. Anxiety permits the emotion of uncertainty to arise, which easily transitions to anger. Anger can also create a feeling of nothingness. A void is created, so the intense emotion of anger is aimed at friends, families, strangers, and even surrounding objects. However, aiming these emotions towards other individuals establishes a connection to something or someone. The Last Dance mentions angry comments directed towards a caregiver of a patient. The book gives an example saying, “Why can’t you fix me a good cup of tea? You know I can’t do it for myself!” (265 DeSpelder). Rage is expressed through the words stated in the example, which is a result of the built-up anger within. In likeness, What Can I Say describes anger as a “release of pent-up feelings such as resentment, frustration, hatred, and helplessness” (48 Fox).
