This portrait was believed to be a portrait of the wife of the Florentine banker Zanobi del Giocondo. The painting conveys a psychological depth that has continued to fascinate viewers up to the modern era. Many historians know nothing about this painting. At the right of the painting, a women sits, almost nude, and is breastfeeding her child. On the other side of the painting, a somewhat disheveled man stands wearing a costume what appears to be some type of soldier. In the middle of the painting, there stands a pediment topped by two broken columns. There is also a bridge in the background, further in the distance.
