In the book Animal Farm by George Orwell, many problems occurred after the rebellion that made it seem not worth doing in the first place. The rebellion was ineffective because of a chain of events that happened that made most of animals lives worse because of theft,trickery, and murder.
The rebellion was unsuccessful because the pigs since the rebellion have been stockpiling and committing theft for their own personal gain. After the rebellion happened the pigs were taking advantage of the other animals ignorance by telling them that they need all of the milk and apples to survive. Napoleon tells the rest of the farm lies to prevent an uprising as seen on page 35. “Comrades!” he cried. ” You do not imagine, I hope the we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us actually dislike milk and Apples. I dislike them myself.” What Napoleon is basically saying is that it’s so hard to eat all of this delicious cake. We wish you could have it but we need it, because we need it to sit around. It’s for your benefit trust us. Which isn’t fair to the rest of the farm because while they are starving, and the pigs are happily filled with food doing absolutely nothing. The pigs also told the rest of the farm that Boxer died in the hospital instead of the knacker as seen on page 124-125. “Some of the animals had noticed that the van which took Boxer away was marked “Horse Slaughterer” and had actually jumped to the conclusion that Boxer was being sent to the Knacker’s. It was almost unbelievable, said Squealer, that any animal could be so stupid. Surely, he cried indignantly, whisking his tail and skipping from side to side, surely they knew their beloved leader Comrade Napoleon, better than that? The van had been bought by the veterinary surgeon, who had not painted the name out.” Squealer only said those things to keep the animals from uprising and taking Napoleon and the other pigs out
