Ever since Rebekah Lynn entered high school she is always been tired and hasn’t been able to participate in sports because of joint issues. It took 4 years for Rebekah to finally get a diagnosis of POTS and she still struggles to manage the symptoms.

Rebekah Lynn has never been able to live a normal life because of her health issues. Like other young children Rebekah wanted to be active so she tried to participate in sports, such as track and cheerleading. Unfortunately, by eighth grade Rebekah couldn’t do any sports because she had broken too many bones and had joint issues. Throughout her freshman and sophomore years of high school her health continued to deteriorate and she found out she was anemic, had severe insomnia, and developed severe pain when eating. During her last 2 years of high school her health continued its sharp decline and she had memory loss, anxiety, nausea, fatigue, and joint pain. After many tests the doctors found nothing and put her on several medicines to treat her symptoms. Rebekah had a difficulty finishing high school because of her increased fatigue and nausea. When she entered college Rebekah reacted badly to the chemicals in the new dorms so her symptoms worsened. Rebekah’s dizziness

POTS can be hard to diagnose because there is a wide array of symptoms and it can be easily mistaken for other diseases. Most POTS patients experience dizziness, nausea, blurred vision, fainting, and fatigue. Since people’s heartbeats elevate when they stand up, POTS can either be diagnosed by taking the heartbeat standing up and sitting or doing a more complex Tilt-Table Test. Although anyone can develop POTS, it is most common in women of childbearing age. POTs can be hard to manage however, increased salt intake, increased water intake, and certain medications can be helpful in managing the everyday
