Rebecca Sedwick Research Paper

Rebecca Sedwick attended school at Lawton Chiles Middle Academy. She was twelve years old and very beautiful. According to her family, friends, and teachers, Rebecca lived a perfect life; however, her life was far-off from being perfect. She was bullied. Why would anyone with a life as perfect as hers be subjected to bullying? Technology. A group of Sedwick’s intimidators used technology to urge Sedwick to provoke harm upon herself. Some may say Sedwick’s bullies are to blame, but honestly society’s blindness to the dangers of technology is to blame. “Society has been using technology is an unethical way” (Desciscio). Cyber Bullying, laziness, child predators, and pornography all have one thing in common: technology. The bullies had an easy access to torment Sedwick and to encourage her to commit suicide by using technology. She struggled to escape from technology; however technology has “started to takeover in every possible form” (Desciscio). Society use technology in your everyday life, whether you are aware of it or not. “From the minute you get up to the minute you go to sleep” (Madam) society finds a way to incorporate technology. Alarm clock, television, telephone, and music are just a few appliances that society consider a necessity in daily life.
