Design and implementation of an Electronic system for identification of rebars in reinforced concrete.

Abstract- In this paper non-destructive method is implemented in which magnetic self-designed sensor is used to detect position of rebar in reinforced concrete. During the renovation of old buildings it is necessary to locate rebar accurately to avoid damages in construction. This is achieved by Magnetic sensor which is made up of E-shaped core also primary and secondary windings. Due to presence of rebar output of sensor varies. Rotary encoder is used to measure distance between rebar. Display is used to display results. This is portable device that you have to move on wall or column for desired output.
Keywords: Arduino mega, Rotary encoder, Magnetic sensor, SD Card module.
I. INTRODUCTION To inspect the rebar using ant non-destructive method has been a challenging task, especially since they are embedded in prestressed concrete. Visual inspection is not efficient and useful method as it fails to locate rebar accurately. Magnetic sensor used for locating reinforcing steel present within in concrete work on the principle that the steel affects the alternating magnetic field. So this paper discusses development of system by utilizing maximum possible information from magnetic effect on rebar. A

It has two output channels (A and B) to sense the position .The output of these two signals are 90 degree out of phase with respect to each other. From these signals we can find out position and direction of rotation, if A leads B then disk is rotating in a clockwise direction and if B leads A then disk is rotating in counterclockwise direction. Output of encoder is equivalent to 1,024 pulses per revolution. Following formulae is used to calculate linear distance travelled by disk, Linear distance covered = (output of encoder *3.1416*diameter of disk)/PPR of

Recently, architects developed an idea of placing the buildings above their base on a chain of flexible springs and protected cylinders, in order to prevent earthquakes from knocking them from their foundation (Figure 3).In general, the most frequent kind of cylinder is the rigid lead core wrapped in alternating layers of rubber and solidified steel. The center of the core supplies vertical strength while the layers of rubber and steel material allocate horizontal resistance. These flexible but solid poles can be attached to the building with steel plates raising it away from the destructive force of the earthquake’s collision while they absorb and move with the waves and vibrations. When the earthquake crashes, the cylinders will move with it rather than the entire structure of the building, reducing the damage caused by earthquakes ( Tech21, 2014). In conclusion, the goal of earthquake-proof…

The motion in the fastening reason for the unit might be supervised with vibration pickup and examined to determine the spectrum. These details may then be employed to set the shaker drive signal to proper spectrum shape and level. The best approach would be to arrange the machine to watch and control the amount instantly. The three functional limitations to the performance of electrodynamic shaker are displacement, velocity and acceleration. Shaker is operated by displacement at the lowest frequency.…

The overall objective of this lab was to verify Bernoulli-Euler beam theory for the lip-loaded cantilever and use that to calculate the Poisson ratio for the material in this case 6061-T6 aluminum. This was done by having to different objectives for each part of the Lab. Part one was use electrical resistance strain gage, this was to measure the strain a cantilever beam as it undergoes a known deflection. We would then compare the measurements with that of the strains predicted by simple beam theory [1]. The objective for part two was to use two electrical resistance strain gages on the cantilevered beam to measure and calculate the Poisson ratio of the beam.…

The nickel layer typically has a purpose as a conducting metal used for sending a potential difference to vibrate the PZT by piezoelectric effect. In addition, the nickel layer is also has a role as a mechanical support having PZT is fragile. Piezo electrode patterning incorporates wet etching process using liquid chemicals or etchants to take off materials from its substrate. The etchant used in this lab is Nickel etchant TFB composed of nitric acid, potassium perfluoroalkyl sulfonate and water. In this lab, our focus is to study the use of wet etching to etch Nickel layer on the PZT wafer.…

Therefore it is important to understand the fundamentals of physics and how physics can be applied to structures and buildings as an architectural engineering. Forces, motion, loads and structures are all essentials of buildings that are safe and practical. In this environment of continuously changing pressure, wind movement, temperature and humidity the construction must be fixed and rigid in order to provide a comfortable living environment over these external variables. Structures should deal with downward forces created by gravity and should withstand the forces of compression, tension, bending...etc. The great and simple example of physics in construction is arches.…

    1. The 10 kΩ potentiometer’s centre pin is connected to the analog input pin. When the shaft of the potentiometer is rotate in a circular direction, the amount of resistance changes on either side of the wiper which is attached to the signal pin of the potentiometer. This tends to changes of the relative closeness of the pin to 5volts and ground, and it gives different analog input. When the potentiometer’s shaft is rotated in circular direction up to 360deg, we read 0 as there is supply of 0volts to the pin.…

The angle of twist of a sample has been measured by attaching digital inclinometers to the two ends of a sample under torsion and calculating the difference in angle measured by the two inclinometers5. A drawing of an inclinometer from ASM is shown in Figure 1 below. Figure 1: Digital Inclinometer Drawing11 An issue with using this instrument in the design of a mini torsion device may be its size. Depending on the design of the overall device, the radius of the inclinometer might be too large. The radius of the digital inclinometer above is 42 mm, which is about 7-8 times the diameter of the sample.…

This requires clear and concise labeling to ensure that these components can be connected and disconnected safely. What labeling is required by OHSA regarding electrical panels and boxes? Due to the wide variation of how electrical boxes are used and what they do, OHSA has set some very broad guidelines for labeling. I will briefly review some of the OHSA guidelines and discuss why they exist. “Each disconnecting means required by this subpart for motors and appliances shall be legibly…
