The reason why the Great Depression is significant in World History, is because it shows that even the greatest can fall. America was just experiencing the roaring twenties which was a time of freedom and fun, no one had a care in the world. Everything was thriving. However, all of that changed when the wall street crash of 1929 shatters America’s trust in their economy. Many were faced with eviction and lost their homes. People were miserable. This generation of people grew up with the idea of self independence they believed on standing on their own two feet and accomplishing everything on their own. Growing up with that mentality; they believed that they had failed, and that it was their fault. People were helpless, they didn’t know what to do and their government did not know how to provide. Many tried to escape their problems by looking for entertainment, but once that was over, they knew that they could not escape.
