One of the reasons why students drop out is poverty at homes. According to, “American Graduate,” it reported last fall that 22 percent of the children in the U.S. live at or below the poverty level. The American graduate defined poverty has a family with an annual income level of “23,050” (American Graduate). Students living at or below poverty level tend to have the highest dropout rates. In this generation, high school students do not take school serious, which drops the rate of performance is test drop. When teachers see that the students are uninterested in what he or she is trying to teach, the teachers gives up on the student. Even though the government took over the school system of Newark to make it better, it has declined more and more.The reason behind this is a cycle because when the students see that the teacher is unmotivated, they give up in their school work, and when the teachers see that the student are unwilling to learn they tend not to waste their time trying to teach them. Also, some teachers do not have the real training to teach some of these students. Some of the students need a certain way to learn and see what going to school will benefit one in the future, but without the proper training, it leads to lack of communication between teachers and
