Hey Simin, I agree with you that haze is not unfamiliar to a person from Los Angeles. Being from Los Angeles, I feel like I got lucky because I didn't suffer from any allergies or asthma for living in LA. However, that is not the case for my family members who still live there. Los Angeles physically feels like the biggest city in the world to me. Whenever somebody mentions a part of Los Angeles like Venice or Fullerton, I still wonder if it really is Los Angeles. Given its size, I always found Los Angeles difficult to navigate with its traffic and numerous modes of transportation. With an increasing population, traffic is worsening and attempts in improving the city’s transportation system are prioritized. The city is always growing: it is the second most populated city in the United States and the constant efforts in improving transportation demonstrate so.…

During the winter months, there are many different areas where fog occurs in the United States. States in the west, like California, Oregon, and Washington, it is not uncommon for there to be several consecutive days of fog that form overnight and disappear in the mid-morning or early afternoon. On the East Coast, there is not as much widespread fog, but rather it is concentrated north in the state of Maine (Fog in the United States). Thousands can die, even more can be hospitalized. All because of lead exposure due to Ed’s Gas Station, Site A. We believe Site A exposed the City of Fairview to lead because the water table flows towards the polluted well, the Gas Station was opened before the lead exposure occurred, and last the path from the gas station to the well does not hinder the flow of groundwater meaning it’s permeable. The purpose of this project was to simulate pollution in an aquifer and to study the elements of safe groundwater. Our group explored many aspects of groundwater.…

The city is stacked upon itself, growing higher and higher as the economy grows. Near ground level, it is crowded; there are lots of people and ads and is generally very crowded and dark and grimey. The people are mainly of Asian descent, and the food and wares reflect that culture. In today’s economy, Asia is the main source of production; nearly everything comes from somewhere in Asia-China, Japan, India, Taiwan. As the producers, these people live in relative poverty and are at the bottom of the food chain, hence they live on ground level of Los Angeles.…

According to the EPA, environmental justice refers to the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies. Low-income and minority Americans tend to live and work in areas disproportionately exposed to pollution, therefore they suffer disproportionately from the effects of pollution. Often, it is not only the disproportionate amount of pollution that negatively affects the health of low-income and minority Americans but the combination of that pollution layered on top of existing social disparities, such as access to healthcare. African Americans tend to live closer to…
