High schools should begin later in the morning because, it will give teachers and students more time to rest, teachers can have more time to plan lessons, and it gives more time for parents to spend with their children.
One of the reasons why high school should begin later in the morning is because it will give student and teachers more time to rest. For example, “Later start times can mean less missed school — absences dropped 15% in Bonneville County, Idaho, after it instituted such a change, according to a 2014 Children’s National Medical Center report.” (Lisa L. Lewis). This shows that later starting times are more convenient and it's a win win for both teachers and students because they have more time to get rest from being up late doing homework. This also shows that students could have a higher testing percentage because they have time to eat breakfast in the morning and study if needed.
Another reason that all schools should start at a later time is that an article from The Atlantic stated, “Getting enough sleep is important for students’ health, safety, and academic performance,” (Anne Wheaton). Overall, the time that school should start would be best if started later than the current 7:45 am, seeing as that start time is not beneficial whatsoever for the students. Education is what many schools claim is the most important aspect of a person's’ youth; if that is true, then it would be more than reasonable to push back the time of the start of the school day, to better fit the needs of the student of the high school
