Reasons Why Dry California Drought

Although California has experienced a drying trend since the late 1970s, the drought that many Californians are currently experiencing is reaching a record-high due to the gradual warming trend that has been happening over the past few decades. For the past few years, most of California have suffered from a drought that is believed to have been brought on by a ridge of high pressure that blocks off winter storms which normally travels to and from the West Coast. In order to analyze the causes behind this extreme change in climate, scientists decide to ensemble simulations that will help them determine the exact causes of these dry California winters (Richman and Leslie, 2015). According to the generated models, the depleted water supplies that are available for agricultural and municipal uses are caused by a major meteorological drought.
