Nursing is no longer about simply treating a patient such as checking vitals or giving medicine to the patient. A nurse is exceeding beyond the normal requirements of their role. Caring is a further develop and deeper relationship between the nurse, the patient, and the patient’s family. Caring is about attentiveness. A nurse is more involved in satisfying the patient and/or family needs. If a nurse fails to recognize the need, the patient or family will not experience caring. From my experience, my nurse advocated for my own well-being to the doctors by no longer taking in the depression pills I was prescribed. My nurse knew I was no longer the same person I used to be before I was taken up to surgery. Since a nurse spends more time with the patient, he or she knows what is best for their patient. Advocacy explores what it means for a nurse to be attentive with the patient and their family by communicating what right and wrong. Caring is also about responsibility. A nurse is responsible in taking care of the patient first, whereas any other factors comes in second. Even if a nurse makes a simple mistake, a nurse is required to take responsibility of their actions and assist the problematic in an efficient matter. Every person has their own reasons to become a nurse. It takes the inner bold to show what kind of nurse a person is going to be. There is more to it in becoming a nurse than being compassionate and caring. Nursing also revolves in having a deeper connection with the patient and their family. I am thrilled in taking this step to become a nurse. I know becoming a nurse will reflect the kind of person I truly am. I know once I am nurse, I will make a difference in distributing patient
