Reasons to be a Medical Assistant Although Medical Assisting was not my first choice after graduating high school, there are multiple reasons why I chose this path for me. First of all, I chose this route because it is a great stepping stone to reach my goal in life which is to be a Nurse. Medical Assisting is not only fast pace, but it will also lead me to becoming a better Nurse in the future. Because you can earn a certificate in Medical Assisting within nine months, it gave me another reason to go to school for it. I believe that this is another benefit because I would be able to get a feel in the medical field as soon as possible without having to spend a few years in school.
