America declared 2 wars against England because America wanted to protect their land from British rule which involved the debt England was in from The Seven Years War, Britain seizing American ships and the impressment of men, and domestic concerns involving Indians that live in the West. The American Revolutionary War was declared against Great Britain to separate Britain from the 13 colonies to prevent Britain from creating additional taxes and gaining control over the American colonies. The War of 1812 was declared to focus on domestic concerns with Indians, and domestic concerns with American ships. The two main reasons for this war were the international concerns of American ships and focusing on clearing out the West of all of the Native Americans. During the first bit of the war, Americans have experienced defeated after defeat and then they turn things around. In October of 1813, the “Battle of the Thames” took place, the American won this battle and defeated the British who abandoned their Indian allies. This battle in where the Native American leader Tecumseh lost his life. This death was known as the beginning of the end for the War of 1812. Andrew Jackson, t=a militia commander, was a person that thought ill of Indians, specifically the Creek Indian’s and had been wanting to wage war against them for a long time. That time came in March of 1814, where the Creek lost 800 lives at the Battle of Horseshoe Bend, the most people that died in one day. This battle marked the end of Indian resistance in the south. Britain puts together the Treaty of Ghent to propose a peace treaty on December 25, 1814, but it does reach America until much, much later. As a result of not seeing the peace treaty in time, the Battle of New Orleans took place on January 8, 181, and was led by Andrew Jackson. This battle ended in 70 out of 4,000 soldiers dead on the American side and 2,000 out of the 6,000 solders dead on the British side. All political powers wanted different things ranging from a small government to a big government, to little control, to states having control only, to weak government, and anti-federalists v. federalists. Alexander Hamilton was the biggest federalist and had many plans for the U.S. He was strict on what he wanted, only the wealthy and educated to vote and lead the country and he also gave a 2 hour speech about how long the President and congress should be elected for. When he was done, congress was relieved and a little shocked that he just gave a speech on how America should basically go back to the monarchy they fought desperately to get out of.
