Charlie is visited one night by the infamous Jasper Jones. Jasper takes him to the lake where a girl named Laura has been killed. Unsure of what to do, they throw her into the lake so the townspeople cannot find her. The two boys set off to solve the mystery themselves because they know the town will blame Jasper Jones, as he is the easiest target, if they tell the police of the scene. Right at the start, Jasper blames a man named “Mad Jack Lionel” for killing Laura because he already had a murder on his hands. Charlie sets out to find solid clues instead of going off rumors. As the town starts a search party for the missing girl, Eliza, Laura’s younger sister, becomes close to Charlie. Jasper Jones disappears for the time being and Charlie
