Teen suicide is a very melancholy way where people take their own lives because of something tragic that has happened and there are many other reasons why someone would/will take their life. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Every day about 105 American teens die from suicide. More teenagers and young adults die from suicide than from: cancer, heart disease, AIDS, birth defects, stroke, pneumonia, influenza, and chronic lung disease. Each day in our nation there is an average of over 3,470 attempts by young people between 9th and 12th grade. Every 12.3 minutes there is a death caused by suicide in the United States, and every 40 seconds there is a death caused by suicide worldwide. Every year suicide takes 38,000 lives. Also, teens may feel embarrassed to share what they were/are thinking and why they are having suicidal thoughts. These teens that do go to someone for help are amazingly tough like Katniss in the Hunger Games who is strong enough to fight and power through her problems life throws at her. Another reason may be is because they have tried to talk about it before but no one really cared or listened or just didn’t really take it into thought deep enough; teens probably give up on trying because it's like they are getting ignored when they are talking about it and they don’t want to keep on bothering anyone about their problems and how they feel and think. Adults usually don't understand this because they don’t realize and see that this is what is happening; the adults are one of many that are causing teens to feel like no one cares and that they are alone and that they have to hide their pain and feelings away deep down

Also, one of the best things an at-risk teen can do for themselves is to be surrounded with a support system of friends and family (Crook 109). This leads to a less stressful environment to focus on recovery which can lead to results. Many times teens have to go through a complete transformation in life to feel better (Crook 80). It 's a long road but with proper management and a strong support system it could be there difference between life and death. Trying to solve a big problem can be overwhelming and seem hopeless, but with direction, that same big problem can be solved one small step at a time (Schleifer 47). This is also where support from friends and family is essential. If an-at risk teen constantly feels supported and has the feeling of love around them, it can wear away at the suicidal thoughts of hopelessness.
