I would convince a loyalist to support the patriots in the american revolution by, first reminding them that if we have more support on the patriotic side then we have a better chance of winning our freedom. I realize that this fact may make the loyalist retort with but we need the king to survive. Well, when we separate from the mother country we still have a large chance that the goods we trade with them will still be traded between us. This is due to the fact that they need things we have and vice versa. Another reason you should join the Patriots is that when we separate from the British empire all of those horrid acts that they placed on us will disappear. Patrick Henry, famed for giving his well known speech “Give me liberty ,or give me death!” in 1775, proposed the suggestion in his speech that the thirteen colonies ,and great britain go to war in the Second Virginia Convention at St. John's Church in Richmond. Henry was able to accomplish to sway the individuals in the second convention meeting to his favor with his impassioned plea urging the Old Dominion to form militias to defend itself against the British with war. However, while many individuals in the revolutionary era strongly perceive that attending war was the ultimate ,and only option, they are indeed misguided. There are more Patriots than there are Loyalists so it is not like you will be alone while you lose the King’s trust. Many of the Patriots fought in the French and Indian War so they already did their part so you would not have to worry about fighting. Independence is the big word here but shall we focus on the little things they do? They usually lead Boycotts and everything else in that genre. You will want a fierce leader and a leader that is willing to do stuff like that and not be afraid to take charge.…

Not all American colonists supported the war; those who were in favor of British rule were known as loyalists or Tories. The British Army attempted to organize the loyalists and offered incentives such as freedom to colonial slaves in return for service. To remedy this, the Continental Congress passed the Tory Act, which declared that loyalists who worked against the colonial cause should be disarmed and that any who were dangerous should be kept in safe custody. The Continental Congress was clear that the loyalists should not be treated poorly, but anti-loyalist sentiment was extremely high. In some areas, suspected loyalists were imprisoned, physically abused or killed.…

In making the decision to rebel against the British, the colonists were time and time again presented with reason as to why they should retaliate. John Adams, Abigail Adams, and Thomas Jefferson's considered their rebellion a “noble cause” that was morally, politically, and socially justified. For John Adams, there was an immense social justification for America’s emancipation from Britain. This is because John strongly advocated for the selection of leaders based on character, education, experience, and principles, but Britain’s rule over the states was a complete tyranny.…

The colonists were not justified in becoming patriots and seeking independence from Britain. The cause of the rebellious patriots were mainly because of the several taxes. The colonists did not like the taxes, but were blind to the fact it was the British who helped them win the French and Indian war. Some people could have made the argument that there was no point in the war because the colonists could not settle there. It was their idea to try to settle in a land that was not rightfully theirs and received what they got.…
