Reasons For Bob's Death In The Outsiders

Bob is dead. Someone is responsible for his death. The Soc and Greasers don’t get along, and they hate eachother. They always try to jump one another. And one night, something dreadful happens. One of the members of the Soc gets murdered. And Johnny and Ponyboy have to get away before the police gets to them. The characters that are responsible for Bob’s death is Johnnycake, Ponyboy, and Darry. Johnnycake killed Bob. First of all, he agreed to walk to the park with Ponyboy. Pony said, “Let's walk to the park and back, then maybe I’ll be cooled off enough to go home.”(Hinton 52) Ponyboy needed to cool off before he went back home, Johnny agreed. If he just decided to take Pony home and sort things out with Darry, they wouldn’t be in this mess. When they got to the park, the Soc were coming up to them. The Soc were drunk and were talking to Johnny and Pony, “Johnny’s hand went to his back pocket and I remembered his switch blade.”(54) Johnny pulled a blade on Bob. He did so, because Bob was drowning Ponyboy and it was the only way to save Ponyboy. But, if they weren't out so late Ponyboy wouldn't have gotten in trouble and they wouldn't be in this mess.
