In the following paper, I will discuss my reasons for wanting to become a teacher. I will also describe my ideas of the role of the teacher, the students, and the curriculum. Finally, I will discuss my own strengths and weakness and how I can improve up the latter.
It all boils down to respect and a feeling of passion. I’ve been in search of those two things for as long as I can remember. I’ve tried my hand at all different types of clubs, activities, classes, and social interactions. It is their job to carry the child toward learning. Even as a child, I loved consuming words. I would make my parents tell me bedtime stories over and over until I had every word down pat. I have always loved the ability to expand everything I thought I knew into something so much larger. I’ve hardly ever been the one to be scolded for texting in class, but I have honestly been scolded for reading in class instead of participating in the work of the day. I can’t help myself though. I have a passion for the written word and English is the most relaxing and inspirational endeavor I’ve ever undertaken. I know that if I can be inspired to write pages upon pages of fantastic stories, I can inspire others to do the same. Getting just one child to open a book and explore the pages, as they never have before would mean the world to me because nothing is more important in this world than educating and being educated. I aspire to be the best educator I can possible be and to encourage as many students as possible in my journey. I want to make a difference in this world and make even future generations better off by molding and caring for the young minds of tomorrow. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll even educate the future President of the United States. If I were able to say that I made a difference in just one child’s life, then everything I worked for would have been achieved. I guarantee, every time I tell a person that I am majoring in education or that I want to be an elementary school teacher, there initial response is almost always, “Why?”. I tell them exactly what is above. Wanting to be a teacher has nothing to do with money or fame.
