1. The Elizabethan Era was a period between 1558 and 1603 which was ruled by Queen Elizabeth. Her reign developed in literacy and expansion overseas. The term ‘Elizabethan’ meant someone who lived during the reign of Queen Elizabeth the first. People such as William Shakespeare were an Elizabethan.

During the Elizabethan Era, bread was essential. A good baker would work in the castle, serving nobles. Bakers were basically townspeople who provide bread for their community whilst selling them. Some bakers would work harder than others, as they are unable to make profit due to strict pricing. Bakers usually live in their shop, but some live in other houses. A baker would wake up before sunrise, preparing everything they need to bake for the day. They wouldn’t go to back until late at night. Their children would usually help out at the age of 7. Most bakers would have little spare time to enjoy themselves with family, as they would work all day. William Shakespeare died on April 23rd, 1564. He was buried in the Holy Trinity Church, Stratford-on-Avon, England. The inscription on his gravestone says “Good friend, for Jesus ' sake forebears. To dig the dust enclosed here; Bless be the man that spares this stones, and curst be he that moves my bones”. He wrote this himself and it meant that he did not want anyone to move his body and bones after he was buried.
