Can a relationship give you doubt? In the stories I chosen to as my primary sources are “Jove an Io” which was by Ovid who is also known as Publius Ovidius Naso. It written between 43 B.C.E- 17 C.E and is classified as a short story. “The Nightingale” is the other story I decided to do my research on and was written by Marie De France there is not a set time period but it was around 1150-1200. The reason behind why I chose to write about “Jove and Io” is the plot of the story. The way the author really makes the readers think about what he is inquiring in this story. With every relationship you must have trust because trust is the root of every relationship. In the short story “Jove and Io” Jove all so known as Jupiter broke his wife’s trust. In the story “Jove and Io” Juno the wife of Jove is suspicious that he was hiding something from her but could not quite figure out what it was but she did know it had something to do with the heifer. Since Jove caused Juno not to trust him anymore she take matter into her own hands to make sure Jove is not cheating on her.
Juno feared Jove had more such tricks in mind, And couldn’t feel entirely secure Until shed placed this heifer in the care of Argus, the watchman with a hundred eyes: (660, I, 866-869).
Many times when there is an affair going on the man is the one not being trusted as seen above, but that is not always the case. In the story “The nightingale” the wife is the one the one that is being questioned because of her behavior. Many times when a person is caught but they feel that they can get away with something they lie to try to cover their tracks of the consequences that awaits for them. The lady in “The Nightingale” lies to her husband which states, and begin to question her, to ask why she got up and where she went. “My lord,” the lady answered him, “there is no joy in this
