Society no longer teach women to embrace their flaws, instead shows like The Real Housewives of Atlanta emphasize plastic surgery as the key to high self-esteem which will led viewer to happiness. On one of the episodes Cynthia one of the main housewives was feeling down about the size of her breast, this was causing her to fell depressed and insecure about her body. Fast forward two episodes’ latter she received breast implants. After receiving it she had the confident and happiness she has been missing for years. The show portrait the implants as the cure for her depression “Researchers found strong evidence that women with mental health issues were more likely to choose surgery; more had a history of psychological problems including depression and anxiety” (mental health). Meaning there was a deep reason behind her unhappiness beside the size of her breast.
