The song “Stand by Your Man,” explains that women should stay by their men’s side even if he is doing something that you do not understand. Stanford mentions, “Just because I’m a woman’ took on sexual hypocrisy and double standards way before ‘slut-shaming’ was even an established phrase,” (Stanford, 278). By this statement, the author implies that women are just seen as objects which do not have any say in the society. She points out that before they are seen as “Slut-shaming,” society has admonished them, which means that they have to follow certain rules in the community.
