Can you imagine being tricked into killing a whole planet of an alien life and driving them to extinction when you're just a kid? Well, in Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card that is exactly what happens, but the kid’s name is Ender, and he is tricked multiple times. Ender is tricked when he is asked to go to battle camp, when he believes he is just like all the other kids, and when he is deceived into thinking he is playing a simulation against the Buggers. Because Ender is being deceived by the commanders reality is not what it seems.
When Ender is being asked to go to battle camp, he is told he can leave the camp at any time, but in reality if he leaves, Earth will be destroyed. All the other commanders in training before him fail so Ender is the last Commander being trained and so he cannot quit. “ You can change your mind. Up until the time you get in the car with me, you can change your mind. After that, you stay at the pleasure of the International Fleet” (26). Therefore, because he has no choice Ender is in no position to leave and must go through with battle camp. In the end, Ender must become commander and win or the Earth will be destroyed. …show more content…
During battle camp the teachers purposely push Ender to his limits to test him as a commander. “So I hope Ender Wiggin truly is the one, because you’ll have degraded the effectiveness of our training method for a long time to come” (98). The head of the school changes the rule of the game just to make it harder on Ender to test his ability as a commander and every battle Ender wins. In conclusion, Ender is the smartest and the best commander in the whole camp and has proven himself to be the right person to be the commander of the whole
