I realize that if I do poorly in school, there is a good chance my life will become a living hell once I go off on my own. Without a good school record, I probably will not be able to find a decent-paying job that can support my wants and needs, and that is a bad life to live in. While I do strongly value working hard as it is the best way to succeed in life, I also recognise the fact that I am an extraordinarily lazy person. This is clearly shown by my terrible procrastination habit. Things like pushing my English essay to the last minute and not having time to do it because of a football game I have to attend the same night it is due, and eventually turning it in two weeks later demonstrate this habit …show more content…
I describe myself as lazy because it is an accurate way to show who I am, and explains many of the things I do, or in this case, not do. The final main reason I see myself in the realism movement is my belief in which, ultimately, everything we do is for the benefit of ourselves and our children. This means things like holding the door for a stranger at a restaurant are actually quite self-centered acts of kindness. We do things like this because we try to get on people’s good side so that when we need help, other people are there to provide it. This also affects everything else we do because natural selection has caused our species (and every other species, for that matter) to evolve that way. This belief demonstrates how I view life without a filter, which is an important part of the realism movement.. Recognising the reason for all of my actions shows how I do not view life through rose-tinted glasses, and instead, I try to look for the reality in everything.
