Real Skateboare Stereotypes

Choosing what stereotype to dress and act the part of for a class projection project, proved to be difficult. After spending many days researching everyday high school stereotypes, carefully selecting which ones seem most suited to me, the stereotype of a skater deemed the best-suited stereotype for me to display. To create a spectacular portrayal of being a real skater, I wore: Vans shoes, a Vans shirt, a bill hat, and quite spectacularly, Vans jeans. To create a better effect, I made my hair out to be flippy and swooshy; the skater style, as reflected by the many photos of skaters I have come across. To add a final bit of pizazz, four miniature skateboards rolled their way into the act; each being at most three inches long. Many people had not found many distinct differences but, enjoyed my well practiced, mini-skateboard tricks. Most reactions from teachers were quite bland often resulting in them shooing away my mini-skateboards. One friend of mine simply stated, "Take that hat off dude." While acting as a skater, I realized that I am not too far from a skater myself; though there is a significant difference between a skater and me. As noted by my friend earlier, " I see no difference..." I concluded the only difference between a skater and me is that I do not know how to skateboard: This, I view, is one of the most important things that a skater should know how to do. Although being a skater is fun, I enjoy being who I am. This project has helped me understand that, frequently, I judge someone based on their appearance, how they act, and what they're wearing at the time, and that I need to change the way I get to know
