What is a gift? Is it how much money you spend or how much time you give? Would it change based on the person giving? Or is a gift a gift? Does it matter whether it is given willingly or by force? What do people really consider a gift? What comes to mind when they hear the word present?

When comparing this connotative definition to the true definition, you don’t see very many similarities. Lagunas’ definition is about a feeling, love, rather than a physical gift that would normally require reimbursement. “I think that a gift is putting effort into loving someone,” said Mrs. Evans. Like Lagunas’ personal definition, Evans main point in her definition is that a gift is to be love-filled. The intent of the gift is not a necessary element to prove a personal benefit. Although the gift could be used in a situation as a replacement for monetary value as discussed above, the gift could simply be altruistic in nature. Even in such cases, the tippee still has a duty not to trade stemming from the tipper’s fiduciary duty. “Absent some legitimate reason for [the tipper’s] disclosure, the inference that [the] disclosure was an improper gift of confidential corporate information is unassailable. The Great Gatsby Analytical Essay F Scott Fitzgerald presents many themes in his novel The Great Gatsby, one theme he presents is that someone can always see your true character by your actions when you think no one is looking. This theme is developed throughout the story by the constant reoccurrence of people doing things they know are wrong when they think no one is watching, but someone is always watching (The Eyes of Dr. T.J. Eckelburg). The first reference demonstrating someone doing something wrong when they think no one is watching is when Nick Caraway “first met Tom Buchannan’s mistress. The fact that he had a mistress insisted on the people he was around” (Fitzgerald 24).…
