The year is 2045. The world is overpopulated, unemployed, short of energy and basically falling apart. The only thing that keeps the world going is a simulation game called OASIS, a virtual reality simulation game created by James Halliday. Ready Player One is a book by Ernest Cline which falls in the genre of Sci-Fi and dystopian. The book starts out introducing Wade Owen Watts, the main character. Wade is 18 years old and wants to find the Easter Egg in OASIS, which Halliday left behind as his legacy. The prize for it is extremely valuable, being the entire mass of Halliday’s wealth. Inside the game, Wade’s avatar is named Parzival. To find the egg, Wade must find three keys and unlock three gates with them. However, there is a catch. There …show more content…
He thought he was the first one to be there, but an online OASIS blogger, Art3mis, is at the location of the Key before Wade arrives. Wade plays a game of Joust (a 1980’s game), wins, but does not tell Art3mis, who has not yet won the game. Unfortunately, she gets a scoreboard notification and soon traps Wade with a spell in the room until midnight. Wade then proceeds to clear the first gate, which consists of reciting lines of a movie called WarGames. After clearing it, he gets a riddle that leads him to the Jade Key. Although Wade thinks he is safe, he is not. A company called the IOI or the Sixers, as egg hunters (people who search for the egg) like to call them, are trying to contact Wade for the location of the Copper Key. Wade doesn’t want to expose the location, so the head of the IOI, Nathan Sorrento, makes a death threat when Wade is about to leave. He doesn’t believe that the Sixers would do that, and thinks nothing of it. A minute after he thinks he’s safe, he hears an explosion back at where his actual house is. Luckily, Wade is currently in the trailer he uses to access OASIS. Shortly after, Wade’s best friend, Aech, finds the key along with Art3mis, Daito, and Shoto. They are known as the High Five. I-rok, one of the egg hunters who frequently visits their chat room, hears about this, and tips the Sixers off that the egg is on Ludus. Soon after, the scoreboard is swarmed with IOI employees. Wade calls a meeting …show more content…
When he sees the clue for the next Key, he immediately knows where it is. He comes into possession of the key, and finds where the gate is. However, the Sixers are guarding it with a super powerful artifact (magical item) that brings up a shield that cannot be destroyed. Of course, Wade has a plan. He puts his alternate identity that he created into indenturement for the IOI and is transferred to their headquarters. Before going into indenturement, Wade pirated himself some IOI passwords that would only work inside of their headquarters, where he is now. He pulls off a big stunt, and finds himself outside of headquarters carrying a flash drive with all of IOI’s data on the High Five. He logs into a public OASIS station and gets into a chat room with the remaining High Five. Wade sends out an email to all OASIS users to wage total war on the

Pre-Teaching Another common general practice that teachers can use to help students with learning disabilities is called pre-teaching. Munk, Gibb, and Caldarella (2010) define pre-teaching as “the advance introduction of information that prepares students for upcoming instruction” (as cited in Berg and Wehby, p. 15). The introduction of difficult concepts and vocabulary can have a significant impact on a student’s progress understanding of new course material. Pre-teaching does not simply have to address vocabulary or concepts for an upcoming lecture. Instead, pre-teaching can be used to review previous concepts learned from a previous section.…

I don’t Ready Player One’s obsession with the 80’s, that's like our society obsessing over the 50’s and I don't see the appeal in that. The only thing I know about the 50’s was that people went surfing sometimes, but that just doesn’t seem relevant I get that in the story Halladay is extremely famous and has an obsession with the 80’s, but the book also says that he grew up in the 80’s. He remembered all the different video games, movies, TV shows, and dungeons and dragons games. Personally I think it would make more sense for the world in the story to be an alternate present with the virtual reality since even in the book it came out in 2012, 5 years ago! .…
