Can you imagine a world where you live out your greatest dream? Be whoever, and do anything? Well, that is the world Ernest Cline thought up, the Oasis, a virtual world created by James Halliday. What inspired Cline to write this book? In the novel Ready Player One the creator of the Oasis, James Halliday, closely resembles the author in interests, belongings, and even behavior. It is almost as if Cline bases Halliday off himself. Also, the entire novel revolves around 80’s pop culture. It is evident that Cline’s inspiration for Ready Player One comes from his childhood and his love for the 80’s.

During an interview with the author of Ready Player One, Ernest Cline, he talks about how he grew up during the 80’s and without proper parental guidance he turned to 80’s movies, video games, and TV shows for entertainment. This later developed his love for 80’s pop culture as he feels nostalgic for his childhood (Mother Jones & LA Times). It seems that without Cline’s lack of parental guidance, which lead him to have such an experience with 80’s pop culture, Ready Player One wouldn’t have existed. The book was just Cline’s childhood collected into a story based off his life. Within the book, there is a character named James Halliday, he is the creator of the Oasis, and the gamemaster of the easter egg hunt. During the search for the easter egg, Wade Watts does research on Halliday and he discovers that his childhood revolved around the 80’s, had a big obsession with 80’s pop culture, and he played D&D as a child. This was expressed multiple times during the book, as it played an important role within the plot of the story, also there were many points in the book in which background information is given about the Halliday or the Oasis (Cline). Cline and Halliday both have such similar qualities. Both lived and grew up in the same generation, both share the love for 80’s pop culture, and both played D&D during their childhood. But in Halliday’s case, he has passed away and that he is hosting a gigantic easter egg, while Cline is a writer. In conclusion, Ernest Cline and James Halliday can be comparable to each other and Halliday is based off of Cline’s personality and modern day

According to Drugs, Society, and Criminal Justice, outlaw motorcycle gangs and street gangs have been credited as the two types of organized crime in America since the 1980's (Levinthal, 2012). However, both criminal organizations have various gangs that are identifiable by crimes they commit, how they are committed, and where they are committed, just as each gang has their friends and foes. " Gang members who sell drugs are significantly more violent than gang members who do not sell drugs and are more violent than drug sellers who do not belong to gangs", (Levinthal, 2012, p. 107).…

The novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is often compared and contrasted with its 1967 film counterpart, written and directed by François Truffaut. The minor differences between the novel and the film contribute to the way that Bradbury’s message is received by the audience. The novel better conveys Bradbury’s message of the destruction of the individual than the film does because of the way that it portrays Clarisse, its inclusion of the Mechanical Hound, the relationship that it builds between the reader and the characters, and the inclusion of Faber’s character. Clarisse McClellan plays a far more important role in the film adaptation than she does in the novel.…
