In Ready Player One, the role of Oasis caused major decline in our society’s economical utopic nature. In today’s world, many people are depressed and isolated- sometimes bullied too. Whereas in Oasis, Ernest Cline made it so easy that “if [you] are feeling depressed or frustrated about my lot in life, all [you] had to do was tap the Player One button, and my worries would instantly slip away”(14). Everyone, especially in a dystopian world, wants a tension-free and relaxed life, and it was as simple as a click away to get rid of it.
