This year, I started 23 books and finished 22 of them. This year I read a mix of realistic fiction, historical fiction, mystery, biography, non-fiction, fantasy, science fiction, and auto-biography. My three favorite books this year were “The Martian”, “What If?”, and “The Book Thief”. “The Martian” is my favorite book this year because of the mix of science, perseverance, and determination in the writing, I also like the main character's traits and role in the book. “What If?” is my second favorite book because of the scientific writing and mix of humor and evidence in the text. Another skill I have as a writer is that I am good at planning out my papers, either through outlines or just brainstorming. Another skill I have as a writer is that I put a lot of detail into my stories and essays. As a writer, I wish I could structure my fictional stories better, this would help develop my fictional writing. Another skill that I wish I had as a writer is to think of interesting topics for personal narratives and autobiographies. A final way I could improve my writing is by using more diverse sentences, for example, I always start my conclusion paragraph: “In conclusion,” it would help my writing if I used different sentences more.
