"I do believe something very magical can happen when you read a good book." by J.K. Rowling. I identify with this quote because I think books are like windows opening in front of you to bring you to different worlds. The experience of reading can change with age, interests, even with your mood. But reading a book is always the opportunity to connect with a wonderful new experience; and here is how it has been for me since I remember.
My memories are blurry from my early childhood, but few of them are clear, like yesterday in my mind. I had a mix of experiences from this period. In one hand my vision problems made me fatigued and tired while I was reading. On the other hand, I discovered an unknown passion for reading. There are too many stories to tell from my years as a student, but I will only refer to the most relevant anecdotes. First of all I want to mention a funny story of plagiarism. Mother's Day was close and I wanted to impress my mom. Amazingly I found the perfect poem for her in my second-grade reading book. So I copied the poem on a piece of paper, drew some hearts and flowers; and there it was the best Mother's Day card ever. The following Sunday I gave it to her, and after she kissed and hugged me, she asked; “where did get that poem?” I replied: I made it for you. The poem was a popular piece from a Hispanic author. Every year since then, we still laugh about it. Another reminiscence was a year after that; I was just 8 years old when my mother was reading The Exorcist, by William Peter Blatty. I was curious to know why she was so interested in that book. When she was at work, I would read it, and no matter how scared the book made me feel I couldn’t stop. Too many books passed from my hand during high school and college, I love some of them and hate other. But all of them were learning experiences.
