"Reading Literature Makes Us Smarter and Nicer" by Annie Murphy, is a passage that shows how reading makes the reader a better and nicer person. Throughout the passage Murphy explains that "individuals who often read fiction appears to be better able to understand other people."(Murphy40) The more a young child reads the more they are understanding the emotions of one another. Reading is not something that we were born to do, so teaching the children's young about reading is a must. Deep reading is something a child needs, because it concentrates the people to read something they enjoy and it helps there brain.
In the passage " Reading Literature Makes Us Smarter and Nicer" Murphy gives example on why reading is good for the reader. She talks about how reading can make reader a better person because you would have a better understanding the emotions of one another. She also talks about how reading article online is not the same as reading from a book because 9 out 10 the reader will show lack of interest in the article and will not have any meaning to it.
