The administration of the interest inventory was conducted in the student’s home at her dining room table. While it was taking place, it was quiet. The student was asked if she would be comfortable enough to complete the inventory here, and she responded with yes. She often did her homework at the kitchen table so it was a familiar academic environment for her that she was able to focus in. Before the administration of the inventories began, the student was told that this case study was being conducted for a class at Eastern Illinois University and was just a way to assist her with her reading as well a way to help the administrator become a good teacher. The inventories were introduced and the student was told they would help the administrator learn about her as a person and reader. As mentioned before, the student read the questions aloud and completed them herself. She and the assessor conversed about various questions and assistance was given when needed. Since the environment the inventories were completed in was very comfortable and inviting, it provided the student and administrator ample opportunities to engage in meaningful conversation.
