The purpose of writing this essay was to offer the audience a greater understanding of my background as a reader and writer and provide personal experiences utilizing these two skills in my academic development. Writing and constructing this essay was particularly difficult for me since I didn’t grasp what to write about without a set of directions or structure. I work best if I had a guide to what you were specifically looking for and guide myself from there. From this process, I’ve learned that it doesn’t matter how you start writing, the only fact that matters is that you just start writing, no matter what. There’s no right or wrong way to write and it’s not always perfect. I’ve also come to appreciate the importance of reading and writing skills in one’s academic and career success.
