The National Education Association agrees that there are more than one factor causing the illiteracy in schools and young children. They also claim that are read to frequently as children express stronger reading skills and willingness to read. Their claims are in line with most assumptions made by teachers and school administration to help parents to reduce their children’s illiteracy issues. They claim that if children are read to more, their overall reading scores will increase, and will increase the most if the child is reading to others. The National Education Association focuses its attention on what the education system is not doing well and what we can improve upon, rather than also including what is working in the educational system and how it is currently benefiting the education of America’s youth. Opposing views are lightly considered, however, when the site compares the percentages of children who are able to read and are not illiterate who partake in the activities that can increase their overall ability to read and the percentage of children who are able to read and not illiterate who do not participate in the activities that the National Education Association advocates will help improve reading skills. This is the main extent to which the opposing side of the argument is proposed and it is very limited. The focus of the site is on the education of illiteracy and reading in children in the United States and thus the site does not believe that the opposing view needs to be presented since all of the information is fact and very limited information that is not supported by statistics.
