Reading 081 has been a challenge for me not because It’s hard that’s the case, but because it is an actual challenge . I strive so hard to improve myself to do better, but I always doubt myself. I know I must have a growth mindset to improve my reading skills, but in reality, I just feel like I'm just doing homework just so I won't fail.i lose focus when trying to learn the material. True i might not have a family to take care of but i have a full time job and responsibilities to take care of, I am teaching myself how to be responsible and the outcomes. But it is a process.
Strategies I can adopt are, spending more time on my home working. I need more self motivation, but actually believing it . to be honest, I thought I was going to do great this semester , but as soon I saw my

Not to mention the benefits that come along with it such as being positive, expansion in term of education, ambition to be a better person, and being prepared. Also in future courses i will improve my attendance so it won't affect my grade. The biggest change I have made this semester is taking on a creator mindset/attitude. You could ask anyone that knows me and they would say I have a pessimistic attitude. I would always joke and say I’m a pessimist because I’m either right or I’m pleasantly surprised. Simple having the negative thoughts floating around in my head constantly has certainly been a dead weight holding me down.…

Not long ago, I was reminiscing with a friend about our days in middle school. She kept going on and on about how amazing her grades were back then, and I couldn’t help but think to myself, “Wait, people actually tried in middle school?” About 4 years ago, I couldn’t have cared less about the grades I received on my report card. I was perfectly content with getting a few F’s – after all, I assumed, what harm would they do me in middle school? It’s not like colleges looked at my eighth grade report card!…

I learned for my first semester of college that I had to begin to start taking that step the first day I walked into Tri-County College. At first my intentions were to just learn the work and finish the assignments on my spare time. Unfortunately, that was not the case I had to learn to discipline myself to gain the extra time I would want to do other activities other than school work. I also realized that I would really have to study my notes and my textbook not just one. I saw the increase in my grades when I actually took the time out to study for at least two to three hours through out a day.…

One tip that I feel is extremely useful is to use a rating scale. If I know a particular task needs my attention by distinguishing that task from the rest, will allow my eyes to go right to the task, bypassing the rest of the list. Another tip that I found helpful is tip 20 which discuses, after getting caught up, analyze why you fell behind in the first place. I have learned over the years I take on too much, for example last semester I took 5 courses. I was going strong until the last 3 weeks, at that time between finals and papers due a wrench was thrown into my schedule causing my days be consumed with something in which I did not plan on.…

Self-discipline was hard to overcome because I would rather go out to hang out with friends instead of doing homework. There were some days that I would stay up until two o’clock the next morning more doing homework for class. Time management wasn’t an easy obstacle to accomplish due to that there was no set schedule for me to complete the necessary tasks, such as homework for either English or AAA 109. I improved my student habits by using a day planner to set time aside to do certain assignments for school and prioritize non-related school tasks. I do homework first before going out with my friends.…

Several studies show that the most valuable and important time commitment in a course was the time actually spent in the classroom.(Schiming) Some other valuable and important time commitments included the time spent in discussion sections that complemented the lectures, and the time spent studying outside of class preparing for the class itself.(Schiming) That study concluded that the most productive time spent in any course was in the classroom; and that time had the greatest positive impact on the students’ performance. Another study of similar motives was taken on the most significant activities the impacted the students’ performance in any given course. The results of that study showed the idea that the most important learning takes place in the classroom and that students who do a conscientious job on a daily basis preparing for and participating in class perform better than students who skip class and try to cram for exams.(Schiming)…
