Mr. Simba gets routine dental cleanings, and his past couple of visits we have noticed that he was lost a significantly amount of weight. After doing the oral exam, we notice that Mr. Simba has many aphthous-like ulcers on his buccal mucosa and hard palate. Some erythematous areas on the dorsal side of his tongue that can be related to geographic tongue. Mr. Simba usually has one ulcer in his mouth, but never a break out like this visit. After talking with our patient, we discover that he was recently hospitalized for a gastrointestinal infection and ever since then he has been experiencing these painful ulcers in his mouth. The doctor describes to the patient how these are all symptoms of Reactive arthritis, or Reiters syndrome. This disease
