It is not the 1950s version of a picture perfect American family where this a father, mother, and their two children. Families can be what societies believes to be conventional family, single parent home, same-sex parents, etc. If the grandparents are raising their grandchildren it should still be concerned a family. In chapter one of Public and Private Families explains the different types of families. The author Andrew Cherlin explains that is there is not a single definition of a family that is fitting for all purposes. He said that ask two key questions when defining a family. I do and I do not think it is a good idea to raise minimum wage. I believe that if you raise the pay of a person who is flipping burgers at McDonald’s or any other fast food restaurant then the wage needs to be raised for the people who went to college and have a degree. Polices officers, firefighters, and emergency medical technicians should not be making less then a person who is working a minimum wage job. Those three professions risk their lives daily to save others. However, according to “The Motherhood Manifesto” most adults that work minimum wage jobs are women. Most of those women are just trying to provide for their family.
