Re Reign Over Me Film Analysis

Imaging the pain one have to suffer from the loss of a love one or witness a tragedy that left a scar that cannot be forgotten. Post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD affected people who have gone through a traumatic experience and they have normal feel of emotion such as distress, fear, helplessness, guilt, shame or anger (Mental Health America). There are many symptoms that can occur on a person experiences after the trauma happen right away or it can occur later on as time goes by. Some symptoms to look for in a person with PTSD are flashback about the event and having nightmare, depression substance abuse, or feeling mistrust (Mental Health America). Although PTSD are experienced by people that has witness traumatic events, there are films such as I Am Legend, Reign Over Me, and American Sniper portrait their characters with PTSD which has a major part of defining the films. In the film I AM Legend, Robert Neville suffered from PTSD because he witnesses the lost of his family and he felt he was the only survivor. Charlie emotion set the mood of the film because it about a person who needed a friend in order to cope with his losses. Charlie symptoms are depression, anger, feeling mistrust, and repeatedly thinking about the trauma (Reign Over Me). Charlie way of dealing with PTSD is the same as Robert, he would enjoying doing thing that would not remind him of his family and he would try to avoid anyone that would bring up the situation. The film brought out the mood by show what a person is going through with PTSD “everywhere I go. I see the dog” this views how a person with PTSD is thinking (Reign Over Me). It is put into a perspective for normal person to feel if they are suffering from PTSD that the memory of the love with continue to be seen long after the love is
