QUESTION #1 1. Personally, I believe Melinda needs to breathe and think about everything carefully. Going to a peaceful location like the beach would be very good for her to clear and mind and figure out exactly what she would like to do. One personal characteristic of effective counselors that would be most helpful in this situation would be effective therapists make mistakes and are willing to admit them. They do not dismiss their errors lightly, yet they do not choose to dwell on them, either (Corey, 2013, p.20).…

When reading the case study I immediately picked up on the stress that Pamela is feeling in her situation. I also had the impression that she didn’t feel supported throughout this case study. Pamela may not recognize that she does have the support of her church, but may not be fully utilizing it in a way that would help relieve some of her stress. When counseling Pamela I would start off by telling her that this counseling will not be limited to a one-time session and that we have time to work through and process her feelings and her thoughts. After those discussions I would ask her how she feels about volunteering with the children’s program.…

Work environments, education levels and skills, and tasks are completely different between editors and mental health counselors.…
