The primary issue with determining IMSI catchers' legality on the state level is that the police haven’t been candid about their use of them to locate suspects and sometimes use obscure terminology when describing them in an attempt to hide their use. Terms that are used to describe IMSI catchers in police reports are digital analyzers, Triggerfish, Kingfish, Amberjack, Hailstorm, WITT (FBI’s “wireless intercept tracking team”), or “confidential source” although there are many times where they decide not to mention the use of the technology at all. Additionally, police have actively hidden this information from defense attorneys in Florida and even sometimes from prosecutors and judges in places such as Baltimore. As I shadowed the counselor at Tucker Middle School for a summer program, I realized that some of the benefits of implementing early intervention and RTI (Response to Intervention) for children with early signs of a learning disability is serious topic. Instead of just placing students in special education programs educators must assess and evaluate students, as well as trying early intervention programs which help delay disabilities or stop the disability from forming or progressing. I’ve always heard a little about the RTI, but one that differed from what I have encountered in the school system is the Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA). This allows a systematic process for gathering information that helps determine the relationship between…

These people may include: parents of the student, the special education teacher, the general education teacher, the principal, school psychologist, RTI coordinator, reading specialist, support staff, and speech and language specialist. The parents may be helpful for providing information about the student’s background and developmental history. Parents can also gain helpful insight on their child’s progress to help them learn different skills at home. RTI includes high quality, research-based instruction and behavioral supports; universal screening of academics and behavior in order to determine individualized student needs; multiple tiers of increasingly intense scientific, research-based interventions that are matched to students needs and a cooperative approach by school staff for development, implementation, and monitoring of the interventions. Response to Intervention: Tirzah Carroll Reinhardt University Special education is no longer the sole responsibility of a special needs educator. In fact, general education teachers are involved in the learning disability identification process long before these students ever receive an individualized education program (IEP). Schools are now implementing a systematic approach for monitoring student progress called the Response to…

Response to Intervention commonly known as RtI in academic language is a multi-tier approach in response to early identification and support of all students and any students who are not progressing as expected by grade level expectations. Response to Intervention does not have a clear defined structure as how to implement therefore, states and school districts have had to design their own format. After the Learning Disabilities Summit in 2001, supported by the U.S. Department of Education, RtI created momentum recognized for its use for identifying learning disabilities. Between the endorsement from the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA) and No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) these events forced RtI…
