The RBC Foundation After-School Programs Evaluation Final Reports consists of an executive summary that includes the purpose of the evaluation, which is separated into two phases. Phase 1 sought to evaluate key outcomes and benefits of the afterschool programs through content analysis of annual program evaluation reports and phase 2 sought to gather the perspectives of the positive factors of the success of the afterschool programs as well as the negative factors that threaten its success, through interviews and focus groups of parents, youth, afterschool staff and RBC stakeholders. The content analysis included two research questions which were aimed to gather information about the key outcomes in the afterschool programs that were funded by the RBC foundation and whether the key outcomes measure the success of the afterschool programs based on the programs goals. The methods used to perform this content analysis involved an end of the year evaluation report that included a question aiming to gather information about which academic, social, and recreational activities were provided to the participants, the outcomes of the activities and a proper measurement of the achievement of the participants. A table was then used for the responses of this question and the responses were then separated into categories, which included the benefit of the activity, the activity itself, the outcome and how the outcome was measured. A coding framework was then used to separate the content gathered into three categories of benefits of academic, social and recreational outcomes. The key outcomes and recreational, academic and social benefits were gathered, which helped understand how the afterschool program is positively affecting the youths. The recreational benefits included teamwork, physical activity skill devolvement and skills for healthy lifestyle development. The academic benefits were improved academic performance, literacy and math skills, and increased academic confidence. The last benefits mentioned revolved around social benefits however, there was a lack of understanding on the meaning on what can be deemed a social benefit however, prosocial and socialization skills were considered benefits based on the concept themes in the content analysis. There were many outcomes components that were included in the program goals when the background information was discussed that were not measurable in the evaluation, such as program attendance, the setting and structure of the afterschool programs, and staff training and implementation techniques, and how the participants of the program
