Gratton and Plingus had dove into the pool while Grillo leaped from the starting block and ran into the bathroom.
Swim team member of Razorbacks, Coop Bader said Grillo’s Speedo breached and he flashed his male sex organ. The audience found his situation funny and laughed.
Tony Grillo became disqualified. The other two competitors were still in the race and had to do fours laps of butterfly. Everyone who was watching cheered.
“I hope Matt Gratton can finish before the next eclipse,” said Agnes Luntz, the coach of the Razorbacks.
Gratton and Plingus were neck and neck. On the final lap, Gratton finished a few seconds earlier. He came in first place with a striking 3 minutes, 46 seconds.
“New record!” said Christy Sanders, the timer lady. “Nobody has ever came in first with a worse time.”
Gratton’s friends, family, and team members congratulated him.
Matt Gratton said he didn’t know if he was physically able to hang on during the final lap but he did. He said it was incredible that he finished.
Gratton’s success moved the Razorbacks to win the championships. They took their first team photo as gold
