Raynham Hall is a palatial estate located in Norfolk, England. It is supposedly haunted by a ghost known as the Brown Lady of Raynham Hall. This spirit was seen by King George IV. She was given this name because of the brown brocade dress she was seen wearing. Back in 1936 the Brown Lady became famous after a photographer from Country Life magazine could her in a snapshot floating down the staircase at Raynham Hall.

It is thought that she is Dorothy Walpole who was the sister of Great Britain’s first Prime Minister, Robert Walpole. I know now you are wondering what connections she could have had with Raynham Hall. Well the hall was built in 1620 by an important noble family the Townshends. Charles Townshend, an 18th century British secretary
