Both protagonist voice their opinions and are being forced to become something they don’t want to be. they also both pose the same character trait of a cocky confident narrator.
“I am not a strawberry. I run” Pg. 32, Ln. 199-200. This is What Squeaky believes her life is about because that’s what she dedicates herself to. She says that she is ¨not a strawberry¨, which refers to her not following her mother’s feminist expectations. Imagine Dragons song also considers himself to be “caged” until he breaks out saying, “Don't you tell me what you think that I can be” Also following how the narrator in the “Believer” song denies/rejects what he’s been told what to be.
”I am Miss Quicksilver herself.” Pg. 31 Ln. 172. This quote reveals that Squeaky has great confidence in herself but, is a bit too cocky over her abilities. The same confidence is shown from the “I'm the one at the sail, I'm the master of my sea, oh ooh” in the song imagine dragons also has great confidence in his abilities, though not as cocky as squeaky he does portray himself as a powerful being (as what I
