Ray Kroc was the founder of the McDonald's corporation in April, 1955 in Chicago Des Plaines. Kroc created a restaurant business and he became an overnight success, as he once said, “ I was an overnight success alright, but 30 years is a long, long night.” Ray Kroc was an american entrepreneur who had expanded McDonalds and was turned into the world's most profitable restaurant in the franchise business. He had started as young as a teenager selling cups at Lily-Tulip Cup Co. later on Kroc had met a client who had invented a five spindle milkshake maker. This milkshake maker was called a Multimixer, Kroc loved the idea and at age 37 he decided to leave Lily-Tulip Co. to obtain marketing rights from the machine. Before Ray Kroc passed away he had wrote at 75 page manual named ‘ The McDonalds Method’ which ensured the aspect of running the McDonald's operation. For example “ Burgers had to be exactly 1.6 ounces, served with a quarter ounce of onion, a teaspoon of mustard and a tablespoon of ketchup. Fries had to be cut at nine-thirty seconds of an inch thick.” which also included the proper ways of how to properly clean the restaurant. In 1961, Fred Turner, “Executive who transformed McDonald's into a global empire” and Kroc's grill man, he decided he knew how to take control over his franchise. This was founded in a basement of the McDonald's in Elk Grove, Illinois, where he opened a training center that became the ‘ Hamburger University’ for the McDonalds employees. At Hamburger University, you go to study Hamburology where you study to work at fast food restaurants. Over 55 years, more than 275,000 people have attended a Hamburger University. The $40 million facility Hamburger University then opened in 1983 on an 80 acre campus, which included a 300 seat auditorium, eight education rooms, 17 teaching rooms and three kitchen rooms.
