In the short story, “There Will Be Soft Rains”, by Ray Bradbury, a house is left alone after a war. In fact, it is the last house standing. One theme is that humanity destroys itself. First a nuclear war burns civilization into ashes. Wars are started by man and ended by man. As a result, many people perish and everything became ashes around the house due to their lack of self confidence. Secondly, it is the last house standing. Everything in the house works, but it has no one to work for. All in all, life in and out of the house has turned into rubble. Finally, there is the type of silence that makes people tremble.
