In one of Ray Bradbury 's best sellers, Something Wicked This Way Comes, he combines a few things people fear in real life as well as dark fiction. I chose this particular book because I enjoy the darker stories and occasional horror movie. With the upcoming Halloween day, I couldn’t have picked a more appropriate book. This story focuses on two teenage boys and an adult, all of which are preoccupied with their ages. Jim and Will are teenage boys who want to be more mature and older. Will’s father Charles has a desire to be younger and has an obsession with it. The beginning of the story sets the stage for a twisted ride at a mysterious carnival they’ll never forget. With Halloween approaching soon, thoughts of black cats and witches running about, you’d be pleased to sit and read this story in one sitting. I think Ray 's target audience for the story is younger people and adolescents, I didn’t actually feel that way while reading. Ray Bradbury has an extensive collection of stories he has written during his career. I’d definitely pick up another story written by him and enjoy his literary style. His ability to harness me with his mix of nonfictional information and fiction keeps me interested, pinned and wanting to read on. This story also has the ability to keep you emotionally involved and I definitely felt something while reading. I can certainly agree with the article “Author Ray Bradbury Will Be Remembered For Style and Emotional Intensity” written by Diane Brown (June 6, 2012) when she says “Ray Bradbury will be remembered for the richly poetic style and emotional intensity of his best stories, said the director of the nation’s first center for the study of Ray Bradbury, one of the best-known American cultural figures of the 20th century.”. He certainly has a unique way of keeping you involved in the story and his use of words seem majestic or poetic. Ray wrote this in the book and I can say it does an excellent job of describing “Something Wicked This Way Comes”, in it’s entirety, “Ray Bradbury will be remembered for the richly poetic style and emotional intensity of his best stories, said the director of the nation’s first center for the study of Ray Bradbury, one of the best-known American cultural figures of the 20th century.” So if you are a horror story or movie buff and you’re looking for a new story or author, Ray Bradbury has many books out that would be great to read. I’ll be reading the rest of his stories because I certainly enjoyed this
