Rathdrum Analysis

A.B Guthrie furthers this point when he explains Idaho with the words, “The crystal streams. The rushing rivers. The forests. The mountains. The lake blue as paint.” The beautiful lakes that surround Rathdrum that I remember swimming in when I was young. The forest just a few minutes away from my backyard, where I would go on adventures with friends. The awe inspiring mountains that make you realize how small you are and how big the world is. All of these things are what make me love my home. I feel like these are some of the many reasons my family has stayed for so long. With family still down in Pocatello and Blackfoot, Idaho we annually go and visit. Even though Rathdrum is not known for very much, Southern Idaho, where my parents grew up and where my relative reside, is known for a lot more than just the

In movies, shows and songs, children and teenagers stereotypically hate their hometown. They rebel and are always searching for an adventure that brings them outside of the confines of the town that they have grown up in. For me, growing up in Roseland, New Jersey, was not like that at all. My hometown of three square miles was the perfect place to spend my childhood and formative years. Since I spent the majority of my life living in such close quarters with everyone in the town, very quickly the people and town instilled the values that I live by into me and shaped me into the person that I am today.…
